Simple Summer Hair!

It's summer! Keep your hairstyles simple and easy to manage especially if you sweat all the time. Use less chemicals in this season because more moisture is stripped from the hair in the summer. Why? More exposure to the sun. If you are used to wearing weaves, take a summer break and let your hair just breathe. You can look beautiful with simplicity.

Emergency Hair Kit!

What do you with your hair when you get caught in the rain? One may say, "If you know it's going to rain, you should prepare." Well, that's not always the case. Weather people are the only ones with a job and get paid for being wrong. Sometimes they just don't know. The best preparation is to make sure you have a few items in your bag:

1. Bob pins/hair pins
2. Mouse, gel or a hair sculpt pomade.
3. Comb and brush
4. Hair elastic or small scrunchy

These simple hair tools can work miracles to frizz, loss of curls, etc. You can create a simple ponytail for long to medium length hair or simple slicks for short hair. Next time, before you leave the house, pack a small sample emergency hair kit. Your hair will love you.

Don't Weigh Your Hair Down!

My family came up to visit for the holiday and of course they make their hair appointments with me. Well, after working on hair from Friday night til Saturday afternoon, I finally got to my eldest sister. Her textured hair isn't like ours at all. It is fine, so the products I use on my hair, I wouldn't for her because my hair is very thick with full tight natural curls. So, she sits in the chair and began questioning me about conditioners. Then she said, "Oh, I forgot to pick up a hot oil treatment for my hair". Of course I frowned and asked, "For what?" She replied, "For my hair", with so much confidence in her ignorance. I explained to her that a hot oil treatment for fine hair is a NO, NO! It will weigh the hair down and make it limp and hard to keep curls. Fine hair textures need light conditioning treatments, oils and hairdressing creams. Just a little will do.
