Early 1900 Hairstyles are coming back.

My daughter is definitely a Hairzilla.  She complains all the time and only comes to me for FREE hairstyles.  I guess that's what FAB Hair Designer mothers are for.  Nevertheless she looks great! School Braids for School Days

It's been over a week.  I should have posted her pics when her braids were freshly done.  Oh well, I get it in where I can fit it in.  I actually stopped her from doing her homework.  I don't think she looks too happy.  It does go to show you that my work lasts over a week and still looks good.

The Braids from Hell

Oh yes, I call them the braids from hell because my fingers were sore half way through the entire process.  The good thing is, they look really pretty.  The bad thing is, because this client is my daughter, she pays me nothing.  However, she gets up constantly because she's thirsty or hungry.  Then she has to stop to keep checking to see if I'm doing it right. After that, of course, the bathroom breaks. No, I have one better, the texting, phone calls and don't forget.....the "Oh no, now my phone is dead and I didn't bring my charger. Does anybody in the house have a charger I can use." Anyway, my work it done.

Summer Braids

Summer months are the toughest for my hair.  So what works for me are braids.  It's challenging because I do my own hair & have or better yet, don't trust anyone with there hands in my hair. Most of the time I will do my hair late night, after everyone goes to sleep or early morning, before everyone gets up.  Here I am tonight getting ready to create something new.  Here's a few pics of my work on me.

HAIR DRAMA

Roman's Eight has FAB-Hair of her own, but she loves creative designs that accent her spunky personality.  This is definitely DRAMA Hair at it's best. Of course, as you can see, she's not afraid to express herself through hair design.

I DO Me!

Every since I was able to decide who would put their hands in my head, I was very particular of my choice.  I had two hairstylist in my experience and one was my former boss. Even with her, I wasn't too thrilled about the finished designs.  Anyway, I didn't rely on them totally because I have been doing my hair for many years and although I would love to relax and let someone do it for me, I refuse to have just anyone in my hair. So to make sure I have the right energy, I do it myself.

Last Miniute Miracle

What I do as a Hair Dr. is find the root cause and remedy for hair loss and other hair challenges many may face.  I am not a last minute miracle worker that can give you a quick fix to the a problem that has now escalated to a severe issue because you and your "hairstylist" failed to address the situation from the beginning. 

There was someone  who at one time had naturally beautiful hair after I assisted her with the transition from relaxer back to the basics.  Then she left me for a while, but when she returned, she had a patch of hair in the middle of her head that broke off.  So, I began taking her through the restoration process, but the breakage had not finished its course and do you know, indirectly she wanted to blame me. LOL, know dear, the Hair Dr. doesn't cause breakage, she restores  and maintains healthy hair.

Yes, I am still here.  If you've missed me, it feels good to be missed.  Enough of that, what's up in the Hair world?  I'm not getting men with the black out.  Yes, it makes their shape up look tight, but at the same time it doesn't look natural.  What I do for my men clients is color in the thinner areas just a little with a colored liner. This helps keep the natural look flowing.

Natural Hair Journey

On the natural journey, I look to find ways that will keep my hair manageable.  What works for me are braids. My hair is really kinky curly (tight curls) so if I don't blow it out or plat it while it's wet, I'm in hair mess.  I am being more grateful of how the Most High created me, embracing my natural beauty and leaving the masks of weaves, make-up (well for this I use a little enhancement on my eyebrows & lashes because it seems He was short on the market when he added these to complement my facial features...LOL).  I don't wear false lashes though, instead I use mascara & for my eyebrows, a little liner.  Let the Hair Dr. On-Call help you go back to basic beauty.  Call Darlene at 973-405-9510.  And even if you are in love with your weaves...I can hook you up!

REAL IS AS REAL AS IT GETS

Ladies, how do you feel when you meet a man for the first time and you really like him, but you have a head full of weave, makeup-up, lashes or whatever you have added on to enhance your beauty.  Do you ever wonder or worry that as you move on with this man to get to know him and build a relationship that eventually he has to see the real you?  What happens then, will he run or accept the true you. Spring Forward with Fabulous Hair

Because your hair is your glory, I believe you should go all out to make your hairstyles Fabulous!  Why? Dry Itchy Scalp

Dry itchy scalp- many people will experience this condition during the spring and summer months.  Some who are dealing with it now, tend to reach for topical solutions.  That's not the answer.  However, using hair oils and creams help to assist,  but do not get rid of the problem. The major cause of dry itchy scalp is dehydration.  Many people don't consume enough water on a daily basis.   Increase your water intake-make sure it is at least 8 8 oz. glasses of  alkaline water.  After a week, you will notice a difference.  Actually your body will produce natural oils to moisturize your hair and scalp. What is it with our women not taking pride in their hair.  This is not projected to all women because some of us will not leave home unless our hair is "tight and right".  I just have to  speak to our beautiful women who wear weaves and it's getting pretty old.  I know you notice the difference from when your hair was freshly done and now it's three weeks later.  I mean, really, we can see where your hair ends and the weave began. Save Your Little Girls' Hair

Save the health of your little girls' hair.  Take the time to maintain their natural hair by doing regular  
conditioned treatments to make  it more manageable. You can braid it or blow dry it while it's wet.  Press it or flat iron their hair as long as you can, at least until the age of 15 or 16 years.  So many women in their early 30's and even younger are losing their hair.  The problem started from introducing chemical treatments at an early age.  If you are concerned about your little girl's hair, don't alter their natural hair with chemical treatments. The Invisible Part; Very Visible

The "invisible part" was introduced in North NJ area some years ago.  It was the hottest trend for women, young and old.   The cost averaged around $100.00.  I know too well because my daughter was caught up in it.  The problem with this was she would get a fresh hairdo using the same technique in less than two weeks at a time for a few months. I noticed with women who were getting this invisible part weave hairstyle, the part seemed to get wider and wider after a few days.  I could actually see how the hair strands around the original part was being pulled out from the root.  Finally, my daughter decided to let me do the style for her and was able to keep it in for a month because I developed my own technique.  My focus is on the health of the hair first.  So call me with your hair challenges at 973-405-9510.

Your Hair Speaks of Your Character

I love it when you can transform someone's life using your gift.  I was born to help people feel good about themselves, especially women.  When you look good, you feel good.  I have to thank my mother who always kept me and my siblings dressed with our hair neatly done.  So,  I guess I get it from her.  It disappoints me to see young girls, even women outside with their hair a mess or tied up because they are too lazy to do their hair.  So I am always on-call to rescue hair disasters.  Call me at 973-405-9510

Bangs

Bangs, whether straight or side swept bring an added sophistication to any style. They are fun and sexy.  I particularly like straight bangs because of the Egyptian goddess look. DO SOMETHING TO YOUR HAIR-OMG

I am taking public transportation this very moment and I see a woman with her child, dressed for a fun Saturday, the only problem is her hair is a mess. It's medium length and pulled up into a childlike ponytail.  The sides and back are short so the hair strands are sticking out.  There is no excuse.  The ponytail is the quickest, most simplest style.  How can you mess that up.  Invest in some gel or pomade to hold the short strands in place....I'm just saying....

A Man's Cut

A beautiful woman with her natural hair lightened to a honey bronze color, looked Fabulous.  The only issue I have is why does she feel a "man's cut" is choice?  As women, our hair is our glory.  So we should leave the close cuts for the men.  There are an abundance of hairstyles that enhance our beauty while men are pretty much limited.  I do know a man would prefer his woman's hair to be longer than his.

Why do women wait until they experience extreme hair breakage to realize there is a problem.  Then they expect an instant miracle of hair growth.  This happened to me recently.  I helped a client go from the relaxer back to her natural hair and her hair grew like wildflowers.  It was growing down her back.  So she stopped using my services.  About a year later, I noticed she cut her hair a little.  Then it was cut a little more and a little more.  Finally she showed me the extreme damage areas that were broken to the root, asked for my help, but because the breaking stage wasn't complete while I took on the challenge she stopped using my services again.  Now, I explained to her that once the hair is damaged and began breaking it has to take its course, meaning it may get worse before it gets better.  But I have you know that her problem was her fault and the person/stylist she allowed to "play in her hair".  I am who I say I am and my work speaks for itself.
