If you abuse it, you will lose it----HAIR!

My ultimate goal in helping "SICK HAIR GET WELL", is seeing my clients happy. When working with people who have experienced major hair loss due to over processed hair from chemical treatments, I have compassion. Hair is glory. That's why it is on top of our heads. When your hair looks "GREAT", you feel "GREAT"! This goes for men, women and children.

Hair is the accessory to our facial features; it can enhance or take away, depending on the style. It is important that we value our natural hair, because once it's gone, it's gone. Premature baldness can be prevented if we properly shampoo and condition our hair as well as....Ladies.....let it breathe/take a break from all the stress of chemicals, weaves and extensions.

Dangers of Chemicals in Children's Hair!

Deciding to put a chemical relaxer or straightener in your child's hair before she/he goes through puberty is the worse thing you can do. Not only is their hair growing rapidly, their mental, physical and social changes take place more during these years than after puberty. Treating their hair with chemicals damages the proper growth and also has an effect on the scalp, making it even the more sensitive and prone to skin/scalp diseases.

Children with chemically treated hair are more likely to experience hair loss and/or baldness before they reach the age of 30. Who wants to look in a mirror at the prime of their life with lifeless thinning hair. If you have a child under the age of 14yr., do not consider putting chemicals in her/his hair. For your daughters, get it pressed every week if need be. If you have already started the chemical process, you can go back through the natural process, by discontinuing the chemicals and having a professional care for it by pressing the new growth until the chemical grows out.
This may take up to 6 months, but it worth saving the health of your child's hair. Just what the Hair Dr. Ordered! If you need help making the transition or with the upkeep of your child's natural hair, call Darlene at 973-572-2819.

The danger of keeping any hairstyle too long....

Is DAMAGE, DAMAGE, DAMAGE! I gave a client a beautiful hairstyle to keep for a few weeks. She kept it longer than expected. This caused a problem. When she finally called me to give her a fresh style, she was still wearing the old one...and boy was it old. So, this made my job hard. During shampoo, her hair was so matted and tangled that I had to apply conditioner at the same time. I also had to brush out the tangles little by little. Of course, a lot of breakage took place, but at this point that was beyond my control.

Ladies, please do your hair designer/stylist a favor, listen to them when they tell you that a particular style should only be kept for a specific length of time. It will save your hair and him/her the headache and time. A thought from the Hair Dr. Darlene. Call me now at 973-572-2819
