Dangers of Chemicals in Children's Hair!

Deciding to put a chemical relaxer or straightener in your child's hair before she/he goes through puberty is the worse thing you can do. Not only is their hair growing rapidly, their mental, physical and social changes take place more during these years than after puberty. Treating their hair with chemicals damages the proper growth and also has an effect on the scalp, making it even the more sensitive and prone to skin/scalp diseases.

Children with chemically treated hair are more likely to experience hair loss and/or baldness before they reach the age of 30. Who wants to look in a mirror at the prime of their life with lifeless thinning hair. If you have a child under the age of 14yr., do not consider putting chemicals in her/his hair. For your daughters, get it pressed every week if need be. If you have already started the chemical process, you can go back through the natural process, by discontinuing the chemicals and having a professional care for it by pressing the new growth until the chemical grows out.
This may take up to 6 months, but it worth saving the health of your child's hair. Just what the Hair Dr. Ordered! If you need help making the transition or with the upkeep of your child's natural hair, call Darlene at 973-572-2819.
