PLAN "B" FOR THE HAIR DR!

Don't ever think that doctors who have specific areas of expertise have not challenges? We do! Well this Hair Dr. experienced a hair challenge that I wasn't able to save because of time.

I had an appointment scheduled for 9AM this morning and my hair, so I thought, was the least of my concerns. My hair is all natural....meaning no color, no chemicals. The style I created for Sunday required a press/light straightening with a pressing comb. This normally lasts for a week or two depending on the weather.

The problem wasn't the weather, well in a sense the weather inside my home.....I normally turn the heat off when I'm resting because I tend to sweat. Last night I forgot and my head tie I use on my head slipped off during the course of the night. So I wake up sweating and because I wasn't fully aware I drifted back to sleep.

When I arose this morning, I touched my hair and knew that I had no time to repair, because my alarm wasn't set to give me more time to do my hair, "It was already done". So I used that time to rest even longer thinking I would just remove my hair tie like I did the previous morning and my hair would still be in place.

Thank God for "Fashionable Hair Scarves" and "Hats". With the weather being rainy, I used both and was on my way. Ladies, invest in several scarves and hats that you can wear as accessories to your outfit for business. It works!

Natural Hair Wild-Out!

I saw a lady today wearing her natural hair, but it was a mess! She had it pulled in a ponytail with a head band around the front. I guess all of her hair wasn't long enough to fit in the ponytail holder in the back of her head. So she must have said, "the Hell with it!" and kept it moving..
I was going to give her the benefit of the doubt and blame it on a strong windy day, but I would be lying. Today was a beautiful day. She had no excuse. And even so, keep a comb or brush in your pocketbook. The easiest hairstyle to have and make it look Fabulous is a ponytail. How can you kill that style.....well, she did. She had a "NATURAL HAIR WILD-OUT!

There's no Hair Glory in this story!

Recently I've been coming across women with natural locks styled in beautiful updo's. There is so much fullness in the ends and the designs are Fabulous..The problem is, when you look at the roots, their hair is so much thinner. Even moreso, the hair is really pulled tight.

What happening is their Beautician, I'll call them Bootician, is so focused on the neatness and the tightness of the roots being twisted that they are loosing sight of the stress on the hair due to the length and weight of the hair strands. This is why lock touch-ups shouldn't be done every week but at least every two weeks to reduce the stress on the roots. If not, thinning of the hair roots and balding begins to take place.

Women should be responsible for their own hair and take Hair matters into their own hands by at least saying something to their Bootician regarding the thinning.

Just a thought from the Hair Dr.

Do you feel rushed by your Beautician/Hairstylist?

How do you feel when your beautician/hairstylist has rushed you in and out of their chair? Being a Hair Dr. and Designer, I don't like to rush or to be rushed when working with my clients. I remember years ago working in a Hair Salon it got to the point where my boss would give me a sign when I should be finished each client. I felt like I was always walking on pins and needles and that made me very uncomfortable.

There were many times that I wasn't satisfied with my finished design although my clients were. I love making women feel good inside and out, but the most important thing is that I'm also satisfied with the service I have given. If you feel your being rushed, say something. The salon should be a woman's heaven and when you leave you should be walking on cloud nine.
